Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

i usually get to work and often go into the kitchen at work on the line. finishing, initiating or dressing. i’m on these normally because i currently have wrist problems which makes batching in kitchen hurt a lot. though where i go is up to the shift manager. i assemble the food and keep the station clean
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

i like the program so far. it’s going to further extend my knowledge and my learning coach is very nice and said she will try to adapt to my needs and learning methods/styles. i’ve been reassured throughout it all and the website i do the work on is easy to use

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

i’ve learnt food safety and knowledge on how to stay safe. i know how to assemble the food and how to work the machines. i’ve also learnt the correct way to interact with customers and what they expect. teamwork skills have also been developed quite well. i’ve learnt money skills by having a job too

How well organised/structured is your programme?

i have been briefed before hand about the structure and way things work so i believe that it is quite well organised and set up in a good way. being able to work from home or at my work place helps along with being able to meet with my coach and review the system
How much support do you receive from your employer?

i receive plenty of support from my employer. they give me time to do apprenticeship work at my job which is ideal for people who are unable to find a time to do it at home or don’t have sufficient resources. they also give a meeting place for my learning coach and i
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

we have meetings for the sections of the programs. they can be done online and in person which is very helpful. i am given as much information as i’m allowed and as much help as i can get. so i would say quite a bit of support from them
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

i feel that my qualification helps me perform my role better by giving me extra information and different angles to think from which changes my point of view. it gives me extra information to work from and helps me think differently and work differently from people at work who haven’t done it

Would you recommend McDonald's to a friend?
Yes
Why?
mcdonald’s is a good place to work at. some others in the country will be different and hold different experiences but my workplace in particular is a fair equal comfortable environment. the managers are nice and accommodating and even when it’s busy and extremely stressful, nothing seriously bad can happen when you’re panicking
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to McDonald's?
just go for it. don’t be worried about not knowing certain things or messing up because you will get taught those things and you have a probation period. the worst thing that can happen is you mess up and find out it’s not for you. they accommodate to your needs
