Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
Site based, checking quality and compliance for the client company
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
No two days are the same, and I enjoy working within a project team which wants me to get the most out of the program

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
Electricity network knowledge along with authorisations gained to enter and supervise whilst on a live substation

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
It is structured reasonably well, as this is the first year my employer has offered this opportunity - there is constantly ways that improvements can be made being discussed.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
There is a wealth of resource and experience available from my employer to refer to and ask questions.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
The distance learning is great! Again the resources and help that is available to students is amazing considering we are only on campus once every twelve weeks.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
Certain topics and modules are very relatable and create a greater understanding, but due to the industry I am in being very specialist it is hard for the training provider to be specific to said industry.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
We have had team building events with ourselves and our contractors. Always good to be able to speak to people away from the workplace.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend SSE to a friend?
Yes
Why?
There is a lot of work available within the transmission business unit in the next 10 to 15 years.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to SSE?
It is what you make of it, benefits are on par with most other large capital construction companies but job security is there.
