Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
I am a Team Leader who manages 7 advisors on a daily basis in a Call Centre. I manage both the work and lunch rotas, help advisors on a daily basis with their workloads, 121's, PCDR's, provide training & feedback for the advisors & support daily to my line manager
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I am thoroughly enjoying my course and this is because of Ray our trainer, he is brilliant. Ray is so motivating and really keeps you engaged, whether that be online via webinars or on skill days. I don't think i would of enjoyed the course if it wasn't for him

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
My course hasn't yet finished but i am half way through and have found that i have both developed existing skills and learnt new skills. I have been learning about the different leadership models which i know will come in good use as i develop with in my role

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
Overall i think the course is pretty well organised. I did find from my experience at the beginning that it was slightly confusing as we started off with a different Management Development Coach so which we switched over to the new one, somethings when not done or was done late
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
The company i work for is very supportive and always encouraging internal progression with apprenticeships. I did find my manager not as supporting as she should of been, i had to ask various times to be included in things like interviews, 121's etc so i could gain experience and on the job experience but she would 'forgot' i had asked so i didn't really get more of a chance
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
I find that from my training provider i have been given sufficient support along the way. I did find that my Management Development Coach gave the impression she was not approachable or helpful, she was very stone face and stand offish so at first i didnt really ever ask for help but when i sat down with her and explained i was struggle with some parts she really supported me. My feedback for her would be to try and adjust how she comes across
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
I think by doing this qualification externally, it gives you the opportunity to be on courses with other people that are wanting to develop themselves in the same areas and lets you see their thoughts and experiences on how to handle different situations and ways of working that people that both yourself or your organisation may not have thought of previously.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
Yes plenty. Marston's holds varies networking events throughout the year from Woman in leadership to mental health webinars, they are run by different employees and also external people that are leaders in that field. We also have various groups and activities that any employee can get involved with from LGBT champions, Burnt Chefs groups which is for mental health, and various others

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Marstons to a friend?
Yes
Why?
I think Marston's is a very versatile company to work for, they really do support their employees in everything they do. They embrace everyone's differences and really support new people to join the company as they are. Employees are always really rewarded well for their hard work too, we are able to nominate each other for awards for hard work, we have a rewards website where we can get various discounts for a whole range of companies
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Marstons?
Just be yourself as Marstons really does embrace differences, we have people from all walks of life's. Make sure that if you are someone that wants to progress to use your 121's and PCDR's wisely as these are vital tools for your Managers to help you get on the ladder to various training to get you there
