Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
Currently working on the Cash side - Payments team, this job involves approving and entering manual payments on the bank, processing urgent payments and ADHOC requests. Have daily meetings with my team to catch up and provide updates on workloads etc. I complete month end tasks such as reconciliations and ensure things are done in the correct timeframe
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
I thoroughly enjoy the apprentice program at Cummins, we have monthly meetings with all the other apprentices to come together and work on projects. We are able to meet other apprentices from different teams on our college days, who we might not get to connect with as much in work.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
Since starting at Cummins it has expanded my knowledge on Accounts Payable and it has given me the chance to move teams and see how different teams work. Before working at Cummins I didn't have any knowledge or experience working in AP. I feel like my communication skills have improved massively since working here as I connect with a lot of people from all over the world.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
Cummins is such a big organization and everything is very organized, they have provided good training to me when I first started and have provided opportunities for me to develop on my knowledge and skills within Cummins.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
I have had difficulty in the past with some of my college exams and my manager was great at helping me work towards passing my final exam, showing me things within work that I could relate to the college material, to help me pass my exam.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
2/5
Personally in Level 2 I felt like I had much more support from the college that I attend but since starting level 3 I don't feel as if our lessons are very structured and minimal support is given when preparing and completing exams.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
Coming into Cummins with no knowledge or experience working within accounting, I feel that working towards my level 2 last year help me put the knowledge I learnt in college into the work I completed and allowed me to understand different issues that I would then know how to solve
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
At Cummins we have EEEC which we are required to do at least 4 hours of each year, EEEC consists of us volunteering at various places. We are able to chose where we would like to volunteer and how long for, previously I have volunteered for the council to improve a green area space by litter picking, planting flowers and vegetables for the locals to enjoy. Its good as we can connect with other people from Cummins from different departments.
