Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
it involves me preparing, cooking and serving food to customers. this includes deserts mains starters sides ect.. i start my days by doing prep like cutting up veg and salad prep and defrost and then i will cook the tickets that come through and at the end of the day we do a full clean down and make the kitchen good to do again in the morning
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
i enjoy it a lot. it's given me not only a job that i have for the future and then on my cv and possibly references but it gives me a sense of self and pride in msyelf everyday when i'm able to cook for people and provide something for them im proud of

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
i've learnt how to properly cook, not just use microwaves ect.. i've learnt to develop my team building skills and how to communicate better when i need something, communication with the other chefs has been a big thing for me to learn as before i worked here i wasn't the loudest peraon

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
3/5
it's really organised. i've had barely any trouble with it other than when i was on a rest team but even then it was really easy to follow and stay on top of and go by. it helps me follow a routine having such an easily following thing for every day
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
i receive lots of support. they're able to make sure i get all my meetings and trainings and courses planned into weekly rotas and they've been really good at helping me up the ranks doing line chef training and being able to pursue higher levels of things in my job
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
3/5
i receive a bit of support there was a moment where i had no proper trainer and i was with the rest team so i understand it was hard for them to support me as they didn't know me but my trainer now has been great at keeping up with me and helping me in places where i'm slipping
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
3/5
they're able to give me an understanding of the job role from an outsider's perspective so instead of just doing things the way i would from my
job i'm able to see how a possible customer would approach something and how we can mend things to make it better for them
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
2/5
there hasn't been so far but we've started doing buffets at our pub and there is a possibility for me to be able to help out with the food prep, buying and stocking and organisation for that and be able to be apart of doing those big events in the future

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Marstons to a friend?
Yes
Why?
because you get a lot of good life skills out of it. your able to learn things without even realising your learning which is the best kind of learning. you build new skills and add onto old ones that you came in with and it's an all around positive environment to be in
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Marstons?
make sure your willing to learn new things constantly and your not afraid to do things wrong and be corrected and you can work with other people and communicate because team work and communication are really important especially in the kitchen as if your not doing that then you could easily do things wrong or hurt yourself or someone else ect..
