Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
3/5
My job role is HR Manager/People Lead for my organisation, overseeing recruitment, induction, training, performance management, employee engagement, recognition and reward across 11 restaurants.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
3/5
I am enjoying the programme so far, I enjoy the flexibility of being able to work at my own pace within the timeframes provided.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
3/5
It's early days in my Level 5 qualification, however I am building on my knowledge gained from my previous Level 3 Apprenticeship.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
3/5
Reasonably well, there have been some communication issues and it's not always possible to attend the live learning sessions. However, there are always recordings made available to watch at my convenience.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
A lot, I have full control over my work schedule and hours and my line manager has given me a lot of freedom and flexibility.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
2/5
This has been variable, largely due to some communication issues during the enrolment process. This doesn't seem to have been as good as it was when I started my Level 3 qualification.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
3/5
I feel that the knowledge and skills I am gaining are generally beneficial to me in my work role and are helping build on my HR experience.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
3/5
We have semi-regular team events and also community and charity events to get involved in.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend McDonald's to a friend?
Yes
Why?
The people make it a great place to work and my career has taken me places I never expected to go when I started 27 years ago.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to McDonald's?
Be yourself and always be positive and confident. It's hard work and can be challenging at times, but you'll meet some great people and no doubt make some life-long friends along the way.
