Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
3/5
I am a pensions administrator for a government funded, defined benefit scheme covering England and Wales.
My responsibilities are as follows; upkeeping records, calculating pensions, training new staff, floorwalking, and completing casework for our clients.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
2/5
I appreciate the opportunity the programme has given me, however, the miscommunication and friction between Corndel and Capita often made learning stressful.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
I did not have a professional career background, as such, I have learnt to; formalise my administrative skills, administer a defined benefit pension scheme, put together a project proposal and present it to management, how to train others.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
2/5
The programme should be tailored for better integration into the workplace. My studies and employment felt like two entirely separate entities and often clashed.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
2/5
My workplace attempted to be supportive, but did not seem to understand the programme entirely.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
3/5
My training provider was extremely supportive when it came to my personal learnings barriers, however, there was tension towards my company which made things very awkward.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
3/5
The qualification taught me how to put together project presentations and I have since put my own forward to management.
It also taught me how to use email rules which I was able to introduce to my deputy manager and help streamline our inboxes.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
3/5
Our team meet up from time to time, however, as we work from home and live in different areas of the country, it is difficult. We are currently organising a voluntary day so we can get together.
