Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
I have many jobs in my role both on and off the floor. When working the floor, I am serving customers, making orders and setting targets for the team. When I am working off the floor, I am completing crew schedules, projections, profit and loss reports, training and working with my team to complete any secondary responsibilities.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
3/5
The programme I am on is very challenging but I am someone who enjoys a challenge and enjoys working under pressure as it helps me achieve my best. I love going to university and catching up with my fellow students and I love working with all different types of people. However, when I do not receive my time off the job to complete university work at work, it can make me very stressed as I am doing a lot at home.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
I have learnt many different skills over the years on my course. Many of the skills I learn at university to improve the business I can then use while working. Some of these skills include problem solving, managing, leading, awareness, decision making, confidence, and how to work effectively in a team.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
My programme is very well organised at university and they schedule weeks that we go in and learn a new unit. We get a lot of information in a short period of time but there are really good resources online to help. We also get the Christmas and New Years period off as we are so busy at work.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
3/5
During my time on the programme, I have worked under several different business managers and supervisors and have had my struggles with support. In one case I received no support which lead me to become very stressed and ill. However, I have been under someone who has given me my time off the job and supported me which is really good.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
The people at university are amazing and help so much. Some unit leaders have scheduled meetings to go through things, provide feedback on weekly tasks and answer emails very quickly to answer questions. My tutor is very helpful with any issue I have at work and provide solutions to them.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
Each unit I get at university links with a part of the business. This allows me to use knowledge and methods I have learnt at university to the workplace. This has resulted in me providing additional solutions others may not consider. It has made me the manager I am today.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
I have represented my work at open evening at Manchester Met where I represent McDonalds and answer any questions. I also offer to attend any addition workshops to provide support. I have also participated in a litter pick for the restaurant and local environment with other employees for a day.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend McDonald's to a friend?
Yes
Why?
McDonalds is very diverse and you build amazing relationships with different people. Every day is different so you never get bored and you meet very friendly regular customers. They also provide amazing opportunities such as the degree apprenticeship programme and there is so much development within the restaurant and head office.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to McDonald's?
To always be yourself and to be proud of who you are. They will recognise your skills and attributes and will take on as many people who are worthy so do not see it as a completion when applying as other companies so. Everyone is welcome, be confident at all times.
