Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
Working on different projects in commercial aspects as a central PMO which is split across different projects which require our support. Involves comercials, finance, contractual and stakeholder engagement.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
Really good company. The programme is well structured to support the different needs of the course, however as project management is so broad you are never in a role which encompasses all aspects of it and therefore you need to ask to be put on different projects where those opportunities are available.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
Yes, many new skills, especially in organising different stakeholders and managing time and programmes/schedules. Improved communication, speaking to different types of people.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
3/5
Company wise they support you well. In terms of college, some aspects of the programme are repetitive or even useless.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
More than enough, always at hand with multiple people willing to help. Work especially close with line manager and buddy. Also, there is an apprentice who is happy to share his experience since completing the programme.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
3/5
Support is available, however with the college ceasing to exist, the support they can give is limited and certain people are prioritised over others.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
The qualification is well suited to my role although many things are more specialised and I may not encounter it in my work until I have a project which may require me to have a different role. The knowledge paired with the experience works well and helps me understand certain actions and processes better.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
Yes, more than enough. Regular meetings at lunch or after work regarding innovation or pressing topics. I myself am part of the Arup Campus football team.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Arup to a friend?
Yes
Why?
Lovely working environment and amazing people who are always looking to innovate and help the world out. This is not a company who settles for a sub standard delivery of a project.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Arup?
Ensure you know what the company values are and that you are passionate about the role you are applying for. Make sure to read the job spec and answer those questions and abilities with real life activities and experiences you have done.
