Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
As an apprentice, I am currently being trained in Civils 3D and AutoCAD so I am able to create/ edit drawings. A typical day at work involves meetings with people from various roles to discuss a project and any questions I might have. CAD drawings are also a major part of my day to day.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I deeply enjoy the apprenticeship I am currently on and find both the on the job training and academic element of it extremely beneficial.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
Yes, during my apprenticeship so far I have significantly developed my CAD skills and methods of researching information for various projects. I have also been given the opportunity to develop my public speaking.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
The programme I am on is well structured. However, most of the off the job learning and assignments are meant to be planned by each individual person.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
My employer is very supportive both with college and studies. They allow me to work on assignments if I am falling behind and everyone I work with is happy to help if I have a question about anything.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
Every 8 weeks, a meeting with my training provider is scheduled to go through what I have done in those 8 weeks such as assignments/ off the job training and what should be achieved in the upcoming weeks. I am also able to email my training provider anytime in-between these meetings if I have any questions.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
3/5
The qualifications I get through my training provider are highly relevant to my job so what I am learning through them better prepares me for when it comes up in my job.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
Every month, our office holds a social event to get people together. These can be really good for informal networking. They also have many groups available to people such as (but not limited to) art, cycling, running and rock climbing.
