Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
Assisting in producing mechanical system designs for clients to meet their specifications. I also manage the BIM portion of the projects and use all manner of software (mainly Autodesk and Bentley products) as a way to use 3D design capabilities to the teams advantage for engineering design and project completion.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
The programme offers the ability to both learn the textbook aspect of knowledge along with how to apply that in a real world design scenario, as well as ways to improve existing designs based on previous learning and assess areas for future scopes of work or developments to future projects.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
I have learnt a range of skills ranging from engineering design through calculations to BIM/3D model capabilities throughout my time. I now use the skills I have developed on a daily basis to fulfil my job role as a design engineer and continue to learn more throughout different projects.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
The programme is structured very well, however is occasionally subject to change based on the requirements of the course program or if you do change learning providers. This is addressed and managed around work hours to produce the best environment for both to coexist and be given the attention needed.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
There is always a lot of support from my employer throughout the programme. This can come in many aspects from help with learning assignments, questions around work policy/standards/ethics etc... or just general questions, all available when needed and carries through the different stages of the journey and after.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
Support from a training provider depends on what is needed at that certain stage of the process and what type of structure your course or training provider is offering. Personally, I found them to be there to ask the questions when needed and to check in on progress to keep everything up to date.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
Overall, it gives you a good basis to expand your working knowledge and is very useful in helping understand and cover standards of design and similar documents. It also offers a good point to refer back to and also poses an opportunity to show where you need to learn more.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
There are many extra curricular activities to get involved in around the workplace both within lunch hours and then outside of working hours (before and after work) from running clubs at lunch to art and gaming clubs in the evening as well as monthly venues where everyone is able to meet up for social engagements.
