Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
2/5
I am a HGV Mechanics apprentice at Babcock, on a day to day basis I will start work on the given section I am working on.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
1/5
Although I do enjoy my job and the tasks, jobs and work I do, I cannot say I have enjoyed my time as a whole.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
1/5
I have developed skills over my time as an apprentice and been given opportunities to see how the business works.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
1/5
Very poorly, if anything none existent. I am a HGV mechanics apprentice and only in my last year, 4 months prior to the end point examination have I been able to actually work on a HGV vehicle.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
1/5
Little help as a whole, however there are people who can see our struggle and go out of their way to give us the help we need and ask for.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
1/5
It would be wrong of me to say we have no help, but a lot of it feels like we have been employed and forgotten about.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
1/5
Like I said in my third and final year, only a couple months from my end point assessment do I now only have the opportunity to work on my specific role.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
1/5
There was a football team.......

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Babcock International Group to a friend?
No
Why?
My experiences from the company have been poor and these things add up and stack up and start taking a toll on your mental health.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Babcock International Group?
Be strong willed and resilient, learn how to fend for yourself, respect those who respect you because you do not get a lot of it. Be the grey man and stay out of trouble.
