Overview of the Experience

Please give an overview of what your work experience involved:
4/5
We attended talks from different people (some were employees of Pinsent Masons and some were employees from the companies that work with Pinsent Masons) and they had mainly talked about Law. There were some interactive exercises/sessions too where we worked together (while incorporating newly-learned legal topics) and applied our knowledge to made up scenarios.
To what extent did you enjoy your work experience?
4/5
I enjoyed this placement a lot. Not only was I exposed to new information and perspectives but I also had the ability to apply my strengths and passions into producing solutions. This work experience also allowed me to broaden my thinking about law, while also expanding my passion for the subject.
How well organised was your work experience?
5/5
Every aspect of the work experience was well-organised. Every session was divided into separate Teams meetings and every speaker knew what they were going to say while efficiently delivering their session. The main organiser was with us every step of the way and she kept everyone on time and well-organised.
How much did your work experience help you in deciding on your future career path?
1/5
This work experience definitely has had a positive effect on my future career path. I already know I want to work in law, however, this work experience with Pinsent Masons has allowed me to not only learn about the different legal job roles but also showed me the benefits that come with all of them.
Were you paid or reimbursed for this experience?
1/5
I was not paid or reimbursed during this experience as this was a free, virtual work experience. I did not engage in any work, rather I had more of a student/learning role. My "job" was to take part and listen in the sessions while soaking up all the knowledge given.

Skills Development

What training and skills development did you learn from your work experience?
4/5
From this work experience, I have definitely improved my creative thinking skills while also improving my communication, listening and speaking skills. I can now, more easily, speak to people I do not know and can apply new and unknown concepts onto different scenarios and situations, all depending on what is required.

Company Culture

How much did you learn about the company culture and what it would be like to work there?
5/5
I learnt a lot about the company's culture and have learnt that it is a place where people go to thrive and develop themselves further. Pinsent Masons seems like a wonderful place to work and it's definitely a place where people can freely express themselves and work for a better future.
Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees?
2/5
There was only one opportunity given for networking (which was at the end of the 3 day course and was a networking lunch). I did not attend the networking lunch but I feel like it was a very good gesture for them to hold this as they were trying to instil the importance of networking in us from a young age.

Recommendations and Advice

Would you recommend Pinsent Masons LLP to a friend?
Yes
Why?
Pinsent Masons is the shining example of how to be one of the best law firms. It has many programmes, works consistently to ensure social, racial and ethnic diversity and employs many people to work for its social responsibility team. Pinsent Masons work with employees to ensure that not only they (the employees) benefit but also the community/environment as a whole.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Pinsent Masons LLP?
I would definitely urge anyone wanting to apply to go and apply. I would also urge you to make sure your application is a reflection of your self and isn't embellished at all. Pinsent Masons are very open, and accept all people from all backgrounds, and hire you as a person rather than just your grades/merits.
