Overview of Experience
Please give an overview of the insight and what was involved on a day-to-day basis.
Attended talks with each team, both personal and business legal services (which have now been combined on the training contract). We were also set daily tasks to work on throughout the day and in between talks, and we were given time to do these. We also received talks about the firm generally and from the Early Careers team. We also had coffee breaks scheduled with our fellow placement students.
What was it like understanding all about the business and potential roles available?
It was very informative, interesting, and also made me feel excited about potentially joining the firm.

The week definitely made me interested in areas of law that I hadn't thought of practicing in before. It also developed my skills with interviews and assessments.

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
The culture is very friendly, and everyone was very helpful. When I scheduled calls outside of the set meetings, everyone was more than happy to help and lovely to speak to.

What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Irwin Mitchell
Be calm and collected - do your research on each department and come prepared with questions. However, also ask questions based on what was presented to you - I sometimes found that I didn't get round to asking what I had prepared because I had so many questions about what I had heard. Also, ensure you pay attention to detail during the tasks.
