Overview of Role
Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

I was involved with asset management clients and my job consisted of auditing certain areas of the financial statements. It consisted of having calls with several clients, requesting various deliverables along with documentation of the samples received. It also involved coaching junior team members in areas I worked on before.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

The flying start programme is a very fast paced one but I think the opportunity to work in audit exposes us to various challenges that we will learn a lot from. The university modules also prepares us in a way to get use to the work we are expected to do.
Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

This is my 3rd placement and its always continuous learning. I've developed my excel skills (for example new shortcuts, use of a pivot table). I was also introduced to new softwares such as datasnipper and alteryx. I also got the chance to coach junior team members so my communication and time management skills also improved in this placement

How well organised/structured is your programme?

I think we get a lot of support while being on this programme, both from the university and the firm. We get regular emails in regards to administrative tasks that are due in coming weeks and those updates are very useful to keep track of what is to be done.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

We get a lot of support from the employer in terms of accomodation, travel and training. Still being a student makes searching for an accomodation in London very difficult but the employer helps us by providing us with one over the course of the placement. We also get support within the firm in terms of training and wellbeing reminders
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

The University provides us with various updates via email on any ICAEW courses available to us and the employer also support us by providing some learning materials. Once joining full time, I will also get the chance to attend courses dedicated to train us for the final advanced level exams.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

The training offered is very important in terms of understanding an overall big picture of the work being performed in real life. The opportunity to put those trainings/learning material in real life issues is a great way to showcase ones understandings. The qualification also makes the transition to work life easier.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

Yes there are various social activities available for all the members of the staff in the office. There are weekly/monthly sporting events organised by various sports committees and also there are social groups who regularly organise some events or some freebies in the office. This offers a lot of opportunity to network with other members of the staff either in you line of service or others.

Why?
PwC is a great employer by providing a lot of support across multiple areas of the firm. They also promote the younger generations via the Flying start programme and thus have a continuous flow of new joiners that they are willing to train. The firm also offers various social activities which are great for ones well-being .
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to PwC?
I would advice them to get to know the firm as a whole and know in which line of service they are willing to work in. Being flexible at PwC is a key part of working in this firm and the firm itself gives a lot of opportunities to its employees to explore different areas.
