Overview of Experience
Please give an overview of the insight and what was involved on a day-to-day basis.
Each day you're set a legal task within a different department. The department hosts a discussion about that sector of law, including talks with lawyers (from trainees to partners) and plenty opportunities to ask questions. Throughout the placement, you're required to complete an instruction taking exercise and an interview. There are also talks about the firm's culture, general commerical awareness and diversity groups.
What was it like understanding all about the business and potential roles available?
It was great to see how the business functions as a whole and how the different offices interact with eachother to form a united approach on how to be a great firm that prioritises both it's clients, it's staff and the community in general.

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
You learn how to discuss topics of law with members of staff at all levels of the company. You also feedback and discuss the activities with other placement students so you're able to develop networking skills. As there are 4 different areas of law explored through legal tasks and talks, you're able to gain an insight into a wide variety of law, both personal and commerical.

How would you rate business leader involvement during the insight

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
The general ethos was that the firm really cares about the individuals that work for it. There's an emphasis on work/life balance and ensuring that the wellbeing of the staff is paramount in order to maintain a great work atmosphere. All staff including senior partners seemed very approachable and keen to answer all our questions.

To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
I loved hearing from such a wide variety of departments and gaining a real insight into the daily activities of lawyers from a range of experience levels.
