To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I enjoyed the hands on learning at work to get first hand experience of what my topic was and researching.

I learnt more about the behind the scenes operations of how to increase market share and understanding more of different customer needs.
Structure and Support
How well organised/structured is your programme?

My programme was not very well organised as I had 3 different trainers and each of them were going over the same things a few times as they were not sure on how far I had gotten. It was good for a refresher but eventually became frustrating as it was stunting my progression of completion.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

I had not received a lot of support from my employer, he was unaware of my learning and how he could support my studies. I tried to take some computer time for myself at work however was refused by my manager.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

I did receive support from lifetime and they were very good in trying to meet my target deadline for the entire course which I was determined to get. They understood my frustration of my changes in trainers and tried to offer addition support for coursework which was very good.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

I feel as though it has helped me to understand more the reasons why we do the things we do and how to do my job better. It gave me an insight on ways we can promote to increase market share and have a unique selling point for people to know what we are about.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

Our workplace do charity events for CLIC which are mostly sporting activities such as a darts competition and competitive football games against other pubs in England. We do smaller fundraisers every few months to get more donations for the same charity.

Why?
I have worked for the company for 5 years with progression that was reasonable and with manageable steps to reach full potential. The pay is very good for the what the job entails and every day is different you will always find yourself with something to do.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to JD Wetherspoon?
For those applying look into the company and what they are all about and each different thing that your job will entail as you will be learning every aspect of the business such as bartending ; waitressing, cleaning.
It is a good career and first step into growing as there are so many opportunities if the pub environment isn’t for you.
