Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

My role is to manage shifts, staff, inventory and the general operations of the restaurant. I am expected to work to a high standard and deliver good results for the restaurant, and be the port of call for everyone working in the restaurant to make sure they are safe at work
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I find the programme very helpful and the content is good. The tutors are really helpful however sometimes when I email for help I find the replies can be a bit blunt and non helpful.

Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I have learnt more detailed ways of how stakeholders help shape businesses and how marketing techniques are strategically planned to benefit the company. It has helped me understand financials a lot better as I am able to see what cost is waste to the business so I can eliminate this, creating bigger profits each month
Structure and Support
How well organised/structured is your programme?

I find that, although the content is good, the organisation of the course has not been that great. There was a massive mix up with dates for 2023, as we were initially given a timetable which stated we would be here in July. Despite this, the online calendar said we would be attending in June. I emailed to make sure this was correct so I could book holidays accordingly and was told that July was the correct date, then a couple of weeks later was told the uni made a mistake and it was intact june
How much support do you receive from your employer?

My employer has been good with support. There are times when I struggle to hit the 6 hours weekly however this is made up for somewhere else in the week. My manager has no knowledge of the topic but we have a good training team where I can go for help
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

The training provider gives me enough support, although sometimes the responses are a bit vague. I would like to see some more support options for distance learning such as the weekly lessons becoming virtual and online to make it easier to ask questions to the tutor and other people on the course
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

I think the training has made me think more about things before I do them, and it has made me question whether or not what I am thinking is beneficial to the work place. It has made me act as a better manager and hopefully as we get further into the 4 years this will carry on
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

There are no extra activities for me to join in on. We are sometimes offered to go out with the uni to different events around the country and this helps, but generally there are no extra curriculum activities for anyone on the apprenticeship to be involved with. If there is there never is usually enough notice to get the time off work

Would you recommend McDonald's to a friend?
Yes
Why?
Because it is a great environment to work in, the pay is good and the hours are very flexible. It is a very Family environment with the staff and it is easy to get along with everyone. The job is hard but the pay off at the end is very rewarding
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to McDonald's?
I would say to be confident in what you are saying and what you are doing. Most importantly - be you. Enjoy what you are doing at work and give it your all. There are loads of opportunities for each and every person at McDonald’s and hard work soon pays off
