Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
Working alongside the site technicians, picking up knowledge and experience on-site daily. When not on-site, I study at college, two days a week, to work towards a HND in electrical engineering.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I thoroughly enjoy my apprenticeship, as it allows me to gain real world skills, whilst also gaining a qualification. I also enjoy the social aspect, as I can gain experience from individuals in my field of work.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
I have massively increased my hand skills, by working with tools continuously on-site. College has also improved academic skills, such as Maths and Physics.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
My programme is well structured, as it follows a linear progression towards the HND qualification. My training provider (EDETA) have made the course fairly straightforward by informing us the full content of the course early on, to ease our workload.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
My employer is very supportive towards myself and the other apprentices. I am made to feel very at-home in the workplace and feel I can ask questions anytime to further my knowledge of the site.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
My training provider offers good support towards us achieving our qualification. I have an upcoming Graded Unit for my HNC exam, and to ease the workload, EDETA have removed a logbook meeting beforehand, so I can focus on the Graded Unit.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
The logbooks I complete for my training provider help me understand parts of jobs, that I may not have fully understood when completing works. Revisiting jobs for logbooks also lets me do some of my own research for certain parts of jobs.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
A 5-a-side football game has taken place on a Friday afternoon for staff. Whilst being here, we have also engaged in a college night out with individuals from other companies.
