Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
I am usually based on the bar interacting with customers, cash handling, problem solving and serving food and drink to a high specification. I also work in the kitchen ensuring portion control is adhered to, making sure food is served to spec and to the correct temperature, aswell as keeping the whole pub clean and tidy.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I enjoyed doing the program very much it gave me something to focus on and keep my head straight as I had found out I was pregnant in the middle of my apprenticeship. Polly was very supportive and made me feel good with the pace I was learning and was always on call for advice!

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
I have been in my job role for many years before starting the apprenticeship but the apprenticeship helped improve my knowledge of my role and I learned how the cellar works and also how to accept deliveries and log them in the system. I also gained a lot of confidence in my knowledge of my role.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
3/5
It was relatively well organised, the training from the start to the End point assessment was very well structured however when it came to the end point assessment the organisation wasn’t too good as they kept having to change the dates or didn’t inform me of changes or items I needed for said assessment
How much support do you receive from your employer?
3/5
I had relatively good support from my employer when I needed it but due to the times I was doing sections I really needed help with it was the busiest part of the year for us as a business so it was a little hard to get as much help as I wanted
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
My training provider was fantastic! She was always at the other end of the phone if I needed her and she gave me extra time if I needed it especially when I was pregnant and dealing with awful morning sickness as this affected my study in parts. She was always very thorough when going through things I didn’t understand too.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
I feel it really increased my confidence in my role and boosted my already decent knowledge of the hospitality industry, to the point where I got promoted during the time I was doing my apprenticeship which was definitely due to my new found confidence and knowledge as learning on the job helped me help others too!
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
A lot of the time it would be a group of us going out together. But every so often we would do a bowling day or paintballing. We are hoping to do a charity football match between pubs soon as well as do the company wide football, darts and rugby competition!
