Overview of Role
Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

As an auditor I have a range of day to day roles. This includes working within the team in order to prepare work for the client's accounts. It also includes talking to the client on a daily basis, asking for evidence and providing them with support.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I have thoroughly enjoyed my experience. Not only have I enjoyed the job, I have made genuine friendships over the course of my placement for which I am very grateful. The job, especially the hours, can be tiring, but is equally rewarding too.
Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I developed my accounting skills. I learned to use a range of new systems, such as Connect and Aura, and I also developed my skills using other software such as excel. My confidence when speaking with clients also grew over the course of the placement.
Structure and Support
How well organised/structured is your programme?

I would say within the workplace it is organised. However, communication about the programme itself could have been far clearer. For example, the process by which we finish our placement was only highlighted to us last week. I feel it could have been communicated far earlier.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

Similarly to the previous section, support from within the Reading office has been excellent. Support on the programme on the whole is good too, although I do feel certain things could have been communicated to us earlier in the placement. Overall though support is strong.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

The placement works very well in regards to working towards our qualifications. We finish with ample time in order to revise for the summer exams, while also giving me a good experience of what full time working will be like once I graduate.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

The programme provides us with accreditations which are immensely useful; it will minimise the amount of time needed once I graduate to fully qualify. In addition, the Audit Modules which have run across both years provided invaluable knowledge for my first placement.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

Several. One I have taken part in myself is 5 A Side Football which runs every week. I was happy to get involved in this activity as it helped me broaden my horizons within the workplace, and to make new connections too.
Recommendations & Advice
Would you recommend PwC to a friend?
Yes
Why?
It has been an enjoyable experience on the whole. I have made good friends, and it has put me in a much better position for my career.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to PwC?
Approach it with an open mind. Don't have preconceptions going in and try and be as social as possible. The workplace is extremely young, so you won't struggle to make friends. Try and take every opportunity you can and make use of the flexi-working too.
