Overview of Role
Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

My role is Project Management Office. This involves reporting and tracking finances for each project, monitoring actual costs vs estimated costs etc. I also involves data hygiene, helping to manage the supply and demand of different projects. It also involves supporting with people data, checking the right people are mapped to the right team etc.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I've really enjoyed being on my programme. I've learnt new skills, gained confidence and found the whole process really interesting.
Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

Yes, learnt around estimating and finance. Developed my communication and leadership skills. Learnt about schedule management and resource management plans. Learnt about stakeholder management.
Structure and Support
How well organised/structured is your programme?

The programme was well structured. I found it helpful to see all of my future coaching sessions in my diary. They all followed a similar structure and I knew what was expected of me. I have found it a challenge to manage the apprenticeship programme alongside my workload. However, I felt I managed this well and, with the help of my line manager, we were able to juggle the two alongside one another.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

My employer has been hugely supportive. My line manager has been incredibly supportive of the programme and my need to dedicate at least 7 hours a week to the programme. I've always felt empowered to decline meetings / push back on work where necessary to prioritise the apprenticeship. This was particularly helpful during the build up to my APM exam.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

I've received a lot of support from my training provider. Whenever I've needed my training coach he's replied promptly or put it an adhoc call.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

It's provided me with confidence to perform my role. I now have more knowledge and experience, which is something I didn't have prior to the apprenticeship.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

Yes, all of the above. Within my team we organise social events for the whole team to attend.

Why?
Barclays is a brilliant company to work for. They reward colleagues who do well in their job, they incentivise colleagues to perform well which, in turn, motivates colleagues. They listen to colleagues' views and do their best to support with both work issues and personal issues. They're an advocate for flexible working which makes me feel like I have a very good work life balance. The rewards system is really beneficially and, as an employee I feel very valued and I have done for the last 4 years of working here.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Barclays?
Research into the company and our values and think about how you already showcase those values, providing examples.
