I am an associate and work in the alternatives sector for the asset and wealth management business unit. I spend my day in team catch - ups, working on various accounts which includes opulating tasks, coaching and conversating with the client. Most of my assigned work is excel and word based
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
I enjoy the programme, I work on a smaller social team that is all local so most team members are in the office during the week. The work is something that interests me and i believe from my experience here on this client I would like to pursue a similar job in the future

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
I have learnt many new skills regarding audit, accounting various daily operational happenings of the client as well as communication skills. These skills are enhanced by this placement from the lectures and seminars that are used to prepare us for this job in university where we learn the basics of accounting

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
The programme is fairly well organised, while there is miscommunication on the university side of the programme - during the placement we are taken care of very well despite the long hours. Most of the lecturers are well experienced and teach through all 4 years of the programme therefore there is continuaity
How much support do you receive from your employer?
3/5
While mental health and well being is a growing topic in the industry, the expectation of how much you work is dependent on your client. I worked on a client where i was working til 10-12 most nights of the week, which i am okay with there is little genuine consideration for your well being during this time
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
pwC fund the entire qualification process, so there is plenty of support towards reaching your goal of becoming a qualified accountant. PwC also provide accomodation during the placement so that you are able to commute and be local to your office everyday which imporves the quality of the placment drastically
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
I have not recieved my qualification, however as an FS the team expects you to be knowledgable and ready to contribute towards the team more - so than regular joiner. I have been given more responsibility as to coaching people at my own level however this is also dependent on experiences
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
There are plenty of social activities throughtout the audit, I was planning on joining the sports facilities that PwC offer however I ended up finding a difference group. There are social groups, and team dinners roughly once a month and on fridays some people are up to go for a drink
