Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
I quote, procure and deliver parts to an defence company. During this process I get a order from the customer. Get our procurement team to get quotes from suppliers. Generate a price then quote the customer. Then if accepted have the part manufactured and delivered to the customer and invoiced
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I thoroughly enjoy it. It is very concentrated and intense but you learn quickly and become a critical part of the team quickly. It gives you a good sense of achievement to get stuck straight in to a new field and learn all the intricacies.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
Lots of new skill, such as scheduling, procurement, Liaising with customers, accounting and management

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
The work side is good, I do feel a bit lost sometimes but feel this is by design to put you under pressure and learn quickly. The college side is very essay based which is difficult but stretched what I am capable of and forces me to develop.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
I get lost of support. I always have my manager and other co-workers asking if I am doing okay and if I need more or less work. And I have Mondays as my assigned college days which is very helpful.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
~The college side if quite hands off. there are 3 hour workshops every 3 weeks but the assessors are always there to give assistance if you ask.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
It is a project management qualification through Associate project Management which is very helpful and gives you a very structured career path that has a lot of progression.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
Every apprentice has to do 3 STEM events a year. For example a careers fair. These are fun and you get payed for the day and travel

Yes
Why?
There is lots of support and there's lots of room for growth and progression. Also given that it is such a large company there's so many areas to go into all over the world which is very appealing.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Babcock International Group?
It is very competitive during the selection process so prepare lots. The APM apprenticeship is very intense and hard work but you have lots of support and acquire a great qualification in a short space of time.
