Overview of Role
Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

I’m a supervisor at an Iceland store, day to day running of the whole store when the manager is off, getting tills out, cashing up at the end of the day, allocating breaks for the staff that are in and dealing with customers, running frozen, doing legal check through the day
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I’m rather behind on the program due to life issues, but when I get time to work on it I really enjoy learning new skills and styles of learning what it needs to learn and complete the program, I enjoy the teams meeting with my trainer and value her knowledge
Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I try and keep up to date with most skills that are needed to run the store, but keeping learning every day on how to deal with customers and staff, dealing with delivery’s that arrive in to the store, on some days that could be 5 of them, and delegating jobs out
Structure and Support
How well organised/structured is your programme?

When I started I was mostly left alone to work on it, I now have a new trainer who is there for me any time I need her, my IT skills are basic and she is helping a lot and trying to get me some face to face help, distance is a problem
How much support do you receive from your employer?

I don’t find much help from my employer and would think I would need to look into what help they offer and where to find it, and think I might need to work in other stores to learn more about the business and how all aspects of the business runs
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

At the start it was slow and my trainer left and now I have a new one and she is very good and helpful and full of knowledgeable information that she is always happy to share, she is always there should I need her and really helps me when I need it
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

I feel that after this, it will help build my confidence working with others and help coach new people in there job roles in stores, I feel the program will help me access a higher role for myself other than a supervisor and that is my aim for the end of this program
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

We as a team have been going out for team building meals, we have a social fund and have won some incentives over time so the meals are paid though from that, it’s nice to socialise out side of work and to remember that we are one team and not just a number

Would you recommend Iceland Frozen Foods to a friend?
Yes
Why?
They are a family business and have true values, they look after there staff in lots of ways, starting with staff discount, paid training, access to the site that gives a lot of discounts for staff to use in many well known places . they do a lot of things for charity’s every year for the past 50 years
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Iceland Frozen Foods?
If you want to be part of the Iceland family and like to work as a team then Iceland is the place to work, they might not be the highest paid but you become part of the Iceland family, with great support on all levels you are a person and not just a number
