Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
I perform audit work predominantly for a range of clients including Public Limited Companies, Limited companies, and Charities. I will spend most of my time out on client sites doing balance sheet auditing, with some time spent in the office doing accounts preparation and audit planning before the actual audits commence.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
3/5
I enjoy the variety of the clients I work on. And the exam programme means I am constantly learning new skills. The work and exam burden can be very stressful at times. The people at Crowe make the whole experience enjoyable however. Overall i do enjoy the job along with the apprenticeship programme.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
I have developed a range of new skills at Crowe. Including the use of excel and Caseware. With completing exams as well in the form of ACA I have learned how to produce management accounts, and financial statements in accordance with international and UK standards as well as how to undertake audit procedures.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
3/5
First Intuition's programme is very well structured, with regular catch up meetings and plenty of college time for exams. We are given the time off work for college with no problems. We aren't given any time at work to do any of our apprenticeship work though which does make it more difficult.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
2/5
Our exam fees and college time is covered by Crowe, but apart from that we do not really get anything further in support.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
We have brilliant support from First intuition with a skills and development coach we have regular meetings with. Anything we have issues with we can seek advice and help from them. The tutors are excellent and provide help at any hour when we need it. They also send copies of any notes taken in class afterwards.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
100% perform better as you go along the qualification. Without it you would struggle to do what is required of you in daily tasks and you would not be able to effectively communicate with clients to get the job done to a good standard and efficiently. They also provide skills days to help with leadership for example as you begin to lead teams on audits. The only issue would be our exams are based on IFRS standards when most of our audits are companies that conform to UK GAAP.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
2/5
There is a few social events and professional networking events, but not any sports teams in our office which is a shame as this would be something of interest to a few of us.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Crowe UK to a friend?
Yes
Why?
Crowe has been a very good employer for the years i have been here, supportive management mostly and a good work life balance, apart from when exams are close! The pay has been competitive throughout the programme, and the people at Crowe are largely great to work with. So i would recommend working at Crowe.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Crowe UK?
Consider how well you would fit in with working in a team, especially in audit, you spend a lot of time working in small teams which change weekly, and will sometimes be staying away with them. So it is worth considering if this is something you would be comfortable with. Also the exams take up a lot of time and effort so consider if you really want to put that work in.
