Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

As a junior, my role involved assisting the audit team mainly with testing areas within fieldwork.
Day-to-day tasks: working through different areas of audit testing, requesting and/or processing client information, speaking to the client to resolve queries and continually communicating with the audit team.

To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I do enjoy the programme, but with any higher apprenticeship it can be stressful at times juggling revising for an upcoming exams whilst working on a client.

I have development many skills since joining Mazars, including team working, communication, organisational and analytical skills.
Structure and Support
How well organised/structured is your programme?

The programme is well structured. We are issued pathways listing our college dates, online learning dates and exam dates. We are also given 5 days extra study leave to take per year.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

Mazars have a brilliant supportive culture - job or not job related. From my personal experience, managers and colleagues alike are always willing to help and assist where they can.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

BPP send hard copies of learning materials and provide access to their hub which has lots of videos and practice questions on ahead of your course and exam.
BPP also set up calls (normally quarterly) with a skills coach to run through your progress on the apprenticeship.

How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

I think the qualification does help me perform much better in my role as it continually builds on my accounting knowledge
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

We have a social committee both for our office and audit department that arrange activities such as going to the cinema, bowling, escape rooms, etc. We also have meet ups for the whole I&S audit department for networking.

Great culture, supportive colleagues, not treated differently or undermined as a school leaver, salary is fair, progression is good.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Forvis Mazars?
Research about the firm and the service line you wish to apply for, including the department within that service line (e.g. Audit could be financial services, industry and services, privately owned business, etc). Be yourself and don’t be afraid to ask questions!
