Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
3/5
I start my day my making sure the store is clean and ready for the customers. I will put clean cloths in, mop the floor, clean the toilets, empty bins and clean the tables. After this I will look after all the customers who attend the store from greeting them to helping them order to saying goodbye at the end of their visit.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I enjoyed my programme very much because it pushed me. I was not that confident at the start but it made me realise how much I know my job and how well I actually treat the customers. It was an extremely exciting process being apart of the apprenticeship programme and I would recommend it to anyone.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
I learned many new skills from my level 2 apprenticeship. How to approach different types of customers. Observe how a customer is feeling and if they need help on the restaurant floor. They may need help because something is wrong with their order. I learned how to work the room and explain our McDonald’s rewards programme.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
The organisation and structure of my programme was excellent. I was given sections to work on every month. I had to learn about different customer care processes. Write up an learn about legal and data protection processes in one of the sections. I think the way it was structured made it easier to understand for a new student.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
I received a lot of support from my mentor. My mentor was available at any time of the night or day for an email or a chat. I don’t think I would have done has good and received my distinction with my mentor. They gave me the extra time I needed for training too.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
I received tons of help from my training provider towards my qualification. If I didn’t feel happy with a certain part of the program they would sit there and talk it through with me. Sometimes they would phone me and we would chat so they knew I was confident on certain sections of the qualification.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
I think it made me become the customer care assistant that I am today. I know how to confidently talk and communicate with customers. I know a lot about the complaints process which I didn’t know that much about before. It made me realise how a little chat and smile can make a customers day/evening.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
Every so many months there are crew events that people can go to. Bowling was the one night. Another one was in the summer on a lake where there was an inflatable assault course and a disco to go to after the fun in the water. We also do charity events together too.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend McDonald's to a friend?
Yes
Why?
I have a different life since starting at McDonald’s I have a wonderful job and h work with caring colleagues who some I consider my real friends. I have become part of a store and I feel that I’m a big part of my store 731. I have more self confidence now.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to McDonald's?
Don’t be worried if you want to apply. There is a place for everyone at McDonald’s and we don’t discriminate against anybody. Someone will always be there to help you. It’s a fast paced job but it can also be highly rewarding and a very enjoyable job too.
