Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

In my role I am learning how to become a manufacturing engineering technician by learning a wide variety such as how to input coding which will be implemented onto the shop floor to help ensure a smooth workflow. I go to callouts when something goes wrong on the line and shadow the older technicians to see how they resolve the issue.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I have thoroughly enjoyed my apprenticeship program so far as I have learnt many great skills which will be useful for in the future of my career. There has been many different opportunity's for me so far in my program and i have only been hear almost 2 months so in the future I will have many more.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I have further developed my skills of being able to read drawings and understand the meaning of certain symbols. I have learnt how to implement coding which effects how the line will operate more smoothlty.i have learnt how to safley operate a hoist and crane to handle fly wheel housings.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?

my apprenticeship programmed is organized and everything is in a plan for it to be simple and straight forward every step of the way for it. There is also possibility for after completing this apprenticeship to progress onto higher education to be able to work towards a higher national qualification.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

my employers give me as much support as I would like/need as there are many other senior technicians who are able to help me if I require any assistance in the tasks I am working at. with my collage work there are placement students and graduates who may help me if required
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

I have receive lots of support from my employer so far when working towards my qualifications as there bare placement students and graduates from university to support me also there are technicians who have completed the same qualifications which they are able to give there input in towards completing my qualifications
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

they will further educate me in what it takes to be in he role of a manufacturing engineering technician also it will tech me skills which will be required in the future of the role or even if once completing this apprenticeship go into another position inside of the company
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

there are extra curricular activity's such as joining in on sports activity's which are created inside of the workplace also there is a program called EEEC which the worker will get involved in work supporting the community by helping out at dogs trust or liter picking in local areas as a team .

Why?
I think Cummins is a brilliant company to work for every worker has a voice and is listened to even though there are over a thousand employees every single person opinion gets taken into account no matter how small or big it is. you have got a lot of freedom when working as if you would like you could take 5 mins to grab a coffee or go to the toilet and not be timed or have to notify anyone
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Cummins?
I would recommend being yourself and confident as they do not discriminate or are predjuce towards anyone you are all treated equal and everyone has an even chance of being accepted into the company you just need to show them why you should be the candidate that they pick to fill the role
