Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
It's hard to summarise a day-in0the-life as everyday tends to be quite different. Something I find myself doing on most days is ensuring everyone on site is wearing correct PPE and following health and safety protocols.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
To a great extent - although different to how I thought it would be, I am not in the slightest disappointed.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
I have learnt lots of skills, such as how to create take-offs; understanding Risk Management and the impact this has to programme, quality, profit & safety; and finding drawings on our master filling system.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
Very well - If ever I have any issues or queries there will always be someone that will action some changes or aid in my understanding.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
I receive lots of support from my employer, there is frequent catch-ups with the apprentices to see how they are getting on and they are very understanding.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
Again, lots of support. They always make sure we understand what we are supposed to be doing/ working to and are very helpful if we have any questions.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
3/5
It tends to vary, as the qualification is a lot broader than work that gets carried out on the other 4 days of the week. However, you do notice a lot of it linking to things you are doing at work.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
Yes, social actives - whether it be with other apprentices, or people I work with - are often arranged.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Skanska to a friend?
Yes
Why?
I haven't got any issues with the way that Skanska do things, I consider myself very lucky to be working with such a supportive company/community. Additionally, I enjoy what I do and if I thought that someone else might, Skanska would be the first company I recommend.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Skanska?
If applying for an apprenticeship, just be yourself in any interviews. Anything that you need to learn, they will teach you - they will support you in your journey and look for genuine, kind-hearted people in the hiring process.
