Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
On placement, I am a strategy and innovation consultant whose role is to boost internal innovation and growth and encourage teams to build their strategy around current market trends.
I put together and run workshops, pop-ups, lead ignite challenges etc.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
3/5
I like the work more than studying on my programme. I think my placement allocation is really suited to me whereas I find the degree really hard and intense at university.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
I have started certifications in both scrum master and azure fundamentals. PwC have offered to pay for both of these exams.
I have also developed new skills in the psychology of innovation, management and facilitation.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
2/5
Very well organised from the PwC side. I feel the university side could be a lot better organised. For example, I think it is important that our tutors remain constant and present due to the nature of our course.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
I receive as much support as I need. My manager from the student requirement team has always been supportive when I have struggled at university and has always helped to solve any stress/anxiety I have around my grades and experience.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
1/5
I don't feel like this support is as good as the support I get from my employer. If i was struggling at uni I am more likely to contact my career coach at PwC than the wellbeing team/my tutor
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
I think it helps me to go above and beyond in my role and other people in my team don't have the technical knowledge I do from my Computer Science degree. This allows me to stand out and provide useful knowledge and insights.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
Yes there are often socials we can go to and plenty of networks for our hobbies at work. There are also several societies at university we can get involved in.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend PwC to a friend?
Yes
Why?
I think the benefits at PwC are great. We have received winter billing support and covid bonuses. I think it is a great place to work and plenty of roles to have a change between.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to PwC?
It's worth applying and read about PwC's core values and see if you align to them. Stay open-minded, you can pretty much do anything you desire in the corporate industry at PwC.
