Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

My role involves working in part of a team that I have been put into as part of a rotation. In the team I will be trained to do the same work that others in the team would do that can be done within the time I am with that department.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I enjoy learning new skills such as learning how to use new software such as windchill, ims and creo while improving skills such as social skills and problem solving skills. In addition I enjoy the program as it has given me a good overview on how the company works and how each area of the manufacturing process moves as well as how the engines are built up from start to finish.

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I have learnt how to work with various different people from my first year doing line work as I was moved in a 2 month rotation around the shop floor. I have also learned how to communicate any problems that occur in the correct manner as well as who I need to ask if I need help with anything.
Structure and Support
How well organised/structured is your programme?

While rotations were consistent some information would not get to us until a later time than other people even when it was information we needed. We would have to find someone to ask in order to find out things we should have known when other operators where told such as when we moved onto the 2 shift pattern. There was also a lack of communication between the company and the college as well. However for the most part the communication between the college and company was good.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

I receive enough support from my employer as I can bring up any problems I have with the course and they will listen and try to understand what my problem is and look into solving it. I also receive enough training to do the jobs I am given as well as with the confidence to do them.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

I receive a good amount of support from my training provider by allowing me to use extensions on assignments if I needed to. They also provide me with everything I need to answer the questions on assignments or point me I the right direction as well as giving me any advice I ask for to help with the work they have given me.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

As of now I don't think that me qualification has helped me very much in my role as I have only just started in my second year and have been exclusively hands on doing line work for the first year. However when working in the workshop at college certain tool are used there and at work which gives me more experience in how to use it safely and correctly.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

There are some extra curricular activities to get involved in such as EEEC which involves work to help the community such as sorting food in food banks to be shipped out, litter picking and gardening work such as planting trees. Cummins also provides further education programs for anyone interested in it.

Yes
Why?
It is a good place to work with good benefits to go along with it. Training is provided as well as an induction week to ensure that you understand what is expected of you, the company and the level you should be working to. The company also has plenty of people to ask for help if needed and would be willing to do so.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Cummins?
Be honest with the employer as if you don't know something its better to say than lie and potentially be in a position where you are unable to work correctly this would also give the interviewer a positive view of you as you would come across in a good way as well as showing that you are willing to learn.
