My role on a daily basis is running shifts. The store is 24/7 and my role is to ensure metrics are running at the target times, operations are smooth and procedures are consistently being followed to a high standard.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I enjoy the program a lot. The key thing that keeps my going is the people I work alongside. I often heard the phrase ‘McFamily’ but until you work there you really don’t know the true meaning. The different people I’ve met doing this course is unbelievable and really been life changing, friends for life.

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

The list it too long to say. The work skills and life skills this degree apprenticeship has taught me will stay with me for life.
Not only have my skills and talents been amplified I have learnt a range of new skills by always being pushed out my comfort zone. All skills I have will be transferrable to any and all jobs I may have in the future.

Structure and Support
How well organised/structured is your programme?

The structure I’ve experienced so far has been highly professional. The degree has been the exact same quality as one would be if I were to have paid for it. If not better. The support from my workplace as well as the uni is absolutely astounding, I really didn’t expect the support to be as strong as what it is.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

The support from both my work employer as well as my uni mentor is unbelievable. I did not expect the amount of communication between me and my mentors. I have quartet meeting with my own personal uni mentor which really help me going with the uni side of things. Then I have support consistently at work to help push and progress me through the company 24/7
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

A lot. I get a full work day a week off to work towards my uni work. Although tone day is not enough entirely for all the uni work - as it’s a lot! It really helps and really motivates me to get my uni work done and kept on top off. On top of this it’s a paid work day as well so we get paid for our studies.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

A lot. In the long run and the progression through the company the business degree helps to learn about what goes on behind the scenes in a company and how everything works and runs. This is something you don’t see working the shop floor on your average day at work.

Why?
The lifeskills McDonald’s teaches you is really unbelievable. Where this maybe not be some people’s career it teaches you so many transferrable skills which you will need in any and all jobs. The people you meet as well really help support you in any work conflicts and helps enable you to meet some life long friends outside the workplace.
