Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
My day-to-day role involves a daily meeting with my team to go over what everyone is doing for the day and to see if there are any blockers. I then either have shadowing sessions with teammates or focus on work that I have been assigned by NatWest or QA.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I have only started my programme quite recently but what I have experienced so far is very enjoyable as I am learning something new each day. No day has been the same so far on my apprenticeship and that makes the role more interesting for me as I feel like it has helped increase my problem solving skills.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
I have learnt numerous new skills, from Python programming language to AWS. Python is one of the main languages my team uses so I am focusing on that as my first language to learn. Furthermore, AWS is what we are moving to, everything is moving to the cloud, so I want to learn more about it.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
I believe it has been well structured so far, I am able to clearly see when my next assignment is due and the instructions that come with each assignment is laid out well. I have classrooms on set dates after I have completed the pre-learning, my first is to start on the 22/02, which goes over what we have learnt in more detail.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
I believe I have a lot of support from my employer, they make sure we are constantly in the loop when it comes to programme updates and they make sure we know who to contact when we have any issues or important questions. My manager also makes sure I know I can go to him for any questions in my day-to-day role as well.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
I have a direct contact, DLC, who I can go to with any questions regarding my learning material. She sets up monthly meetings with my manager to make sure I am on the right track with my learning and she is easy to contact whenever it is needed.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
As I am still so new to this programme, I have only so far noticed that when I am doing my shadowing sessions or I am in meetings, that I am recognising and understanding some python code. When the topic of AWS comes up I can also understand some things that are mentioned.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
Yes, there are many extra-curricular activities within my workplace. I have already signed up to the NatWest gender network and I have signed up to be an apprenticeship ambassador. I love that I can get more involved not just within NatWest but also with my fellow apprentices and any new ones that come onto the programme.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend NatWest Group to a friend?
Yes
Why?
I believe it is a great place to work, I love how it is supportive and takes a special interest in every employee. I think it is great that there is so much to get involved with and that they focus so much on networking.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to NatWest Group?
I would advise them to just be themselves as that is how you stand out more. Also, a great tip would be to not worry about needing to know everything straight away, you will learn what you need to know overtime.
