Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
My specific role entails checking databases to find potential conflicts that could arise if we were to work with another company. We start our day with a team huddle to talk about what tasks we have to complete. We then spend the day carrying out our checks.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
3/5
The programme can be hard work - juggling both university and full-time work. I have been enjoying it so far and I look forward to what is to come.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
There’s quite a few skills that have noticeably improved for example, public speaking as you’ll have to do presentations quite frequently. Technical skills are some new skills I’ve picked up on, and I can confidently use and understand different databases and softwares.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
3/5
I think it’s fairly organised but as I’m only the second cohort, I definitely believe there’s things that could be improved upon.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
There’s quite a lot of support and the company has a big focus on mental health and the general well-being of their employees. There’s multiple things in place such as, free counselling and well being areas to help us and direct help from managers.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
3/5
There’s equally as much support from the university as the workplace. They’re understanding of the fact that we’re young juggling both a degree and work and they ensure that we’re alright with the workload, while also ensuring we’re doing well in our degree.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
2/5
I feel it could be slightly better suited to my role as it’s not directly related to what I’m doing but the modules are interesting and could be helpful for everyday life.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
2/5
There are team social days and lots of things to get involved in. There are many networking events and opportunities to present at networking events.

What tips or advice would you give to others applying to PwC?
