Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

Providing Customer Due Diligence, KYC and AML services for Client Onboarding internal process;
• Conducting CDD and KYC research with internal and external tools to identify potential financial and reputational treats;
• Conducting daily videoconference meetings with CET (Customer Engagement Team) to discuss results obtained and complete digital reports;
• Working on the initial drafts of the Engagement Contracts together with the Engagement Teams;
• Team member of a specific team of three units for tailored management of a particular client portfolio;

To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I really enjoy the programme. It is well structured and we have lots of support from career coaches, buddys, lectures and other apprentices. The course at university can be used in work and therefore I feel a real benefit for completing the degree too. The city is also great and the university has been built in a brand new campus in the city centre which is certainly a nice addition too!
Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I have developed my communication skills. On a day to day basis, I am regularly in touch with engagement teams to develop my understanding of the engagement and on the back of this, providing customer due diligence. I face lots of different problems everyday, which has helped me develop my problem solving skills too
Structure and Support
How well organised/structured is your programme?

The programme has been structured to a certain extent. One thing to consider is I am the second cohort the apprenticeship has ran and therefore there are things we are all still learning on and how we can improve this. The lecturers stay closely in touch with our career coaches at work which helps feel like the two are connected.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
We receive lots of support from our employer. We have a career coach who helps us with guidance and overall well-being, we have a buddy who is in a higher cohort as they have had relevant experience in our shoes. We also have other apprentices and and very supportive team lead.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

We receive lots of support from our university. We attend every friday and they understand we have had a long week and accommodate for this. We have quarterly tripartite reviews to monitor our progress in uni and work with our lecturer and career coach with is useful for our progression within the programme.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

The course has been specially designed to link with our job roles. Last semester we had a stakeholder and communication module. This was helpful as we could apply what we learnt every day to the stakeholders we dealt with. We also had a personal development module which helped with my performance.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

Yes, there are lots of sport teams, we have unofficial football group chat for 5 aside games. There is also lots of opportunities to get involved in recruitment events for next years cohort. Some apprentices have also visited local schools in Northern Ireland to make them aware of the programme.

Would you recommend PwC to a friend?
Yes
Why?
I am gaining on the job experience as well as gaining a degree, earning a full time wage and having no university debt. We get to experience the best of both worlds and I couldn't recommend it enough. It has helped me grow and develop as a person as well as giving me a 'flying start' to our career.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to PwC?
Use the PwC professional and try to apply these values to yourself and give examples to back it up. Try to deter from giving generic answers, the interviewer would prefer to give specific examples and apply these to the business. Be yourself in the interview and contribute in activities like the group task.
