2/5 - Overview of Role

Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
I am an apprentice maintenance engineer. In my second year of the apprenticeship. Day to day I will be assigned daily PPM's. Which could be plant checks that are to be performed based on the set schedule. There is also reactionary maintenance which can include fixing anything that breaks on site.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
0/5
I have enjoyed learning about the stuff that is on my course and I have also enjoyed working on my site. I have been able to meet new people with many different backgrounds. socially I have made new friends at work and at college so this has also been a bonus.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
0/5
I have learned many new skills most of the technical. At college I have learned basic electrical protocols and works. As well as some mechanical engineering things such as using a lathe/milling machine. I have learned how to produce engineering drawings and how to use CAD solidworks computer software. lol

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
0/5
the program is split into 4 years which include college and work based learning. The first year of the course was fulltime at college this was a unique but interesting way to build up a base knowledge. The second year is mainly working based with day release college for the written learning.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
0/5
I receive a lot of support from my line manager personally and he is always available on the phone if i need to ask for help. I have also received support from my work colleges on my site. who are also happy to help if i need any advice or help.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
0/5
In the first year I received a good amount of support being that I was there fulltime. however I did inform them of my ADHD diagnosis to which I haven't received any support but luckily I have thus been able to cope with the work. so in that aspect it could be better.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
0/5
I feel like the training is good and it is good to know these things but for my role specifically which is maintenance in FM. The training isn't that relevant as on my site I don't get to use for example any electric knowledge. as most of that kind of work is carried out by contractors.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
0/5
on my site im not aware of any that are available and i am sure that there are lots available in cbre internally but I have yet to be involved or have a look for any activities. But that is mainly due to me being pretty busy outside of work socially.
