Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
In my role I take on the job of sales order management and then half way through my apprenticeship i will move over to the purchase order management. Sales order management involves placing orders, returns, ETAs and proof of delivery's. Purchase order management involves buying the stock the which will end up with the customer.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
My program is very enjoyable, we have a group called fresh minds that involves all the young people in the business, we do social event and trips out like escape rooms as an example. I work with a group of 10 apprentices, we have grown very close throughout my time here which has helped a lot.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
My communication skills have increased massively, i have had the opportunity to talk in front of big crowds if up to 250 people about the company. My confidence to talk to new people has also increased massively, in my role i end up talking to a new person everyday whether it is a customer or a co-worker.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
It is very well structured. I have frequent 1-2-1s with my line manager and college skills coach. This allows me to communicate any issues i may have. We have frequent college workshops with another skills coach, these are in place to teach us skills like communication in the workplace and presenting a project.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
A lot, they allow hybrid working which is very helpful for me as i live about 45 minutes away from the office. They a lot of help internally as well they promote mental health awareness and have introduced us to all trained professional mental health nurses. In terms of college work they allow us one day a week dedicated to getting college work done, and if it is required we can request more time.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
They give us frequent both 1-2-1 sessions and group sessions with our skills coach, the 1-2-1s allow me to ask questions and go over any questions i am stuck on on the task sheets. The group sessions give us as a group a chance to ask questions and maybe ask our skills coach to go over a task as a group.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
When doing the traning provided by the provider it makes me do a lot of in depth re-search into the business and it's structure, this gives me a good understanding on what different roles we have and what they do. This then allows me to go to the right people when faced with a problem.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
As i said previously we have Fresh minds where we do many social events. We have a football team that i'm currently trying to join. I am also doing a mentoring program provided by an external company called BEE. With this program I support a child (aged 14) in development in school and society.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Computacenter to a friend?
Yes
Why?
As my first real progressive job Computacenter has been great, they have made me very welcome. I feel valued here as a young person and feel heard. I know this because I've been given the opportunity to join a communication steering board. There is also a lot of room for movement, so if I am not enjoying my role management here would rather us move role than leave the company as a whole.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Computacenter?
I would say any oppurtnity to do anything extra-curricular say yes. Networking is very important here and doing things outside of my role is so important, this also allows me to contrabute to my apprentiship, and in the bigger picture putting things like the mentoring program on my CV will be very impressive to people.
