Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
I am a fully trusted team member and currently working as part of a repair team. I liaise with customers and our own engineers to fix live faults, this involves logging in to BT devices scattered across the UK.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
Its great, I am able to rotate into different teams that helps identify what sort of role I would like to go into once I finish the degree programme. This opens up various avenues and also helps me experience things differently as opposed to staying under one team.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
I am developing each day since I am trusted to work on my own pieces of work and have been given the confidence from my team to take imitative of different workloads.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
3/5
My employer is brilliant in supporting me with structured days off for studies although the training/learning the university provides is somewhat lacking in terms of organisation.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
My employer supports me in a numerous amount of ways whether its on the topic of work, personal things or study related problems
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
2/5
The training provider has brilliant facilities but some of the content isn't quite straightforward. The university has equipment from Juniper Networks however our module content is mostly based on Cisco which is fairly odd. Its like having a library of resources only for you to never really use it.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
3/5
Somewhat helps, they build some of the foundations and fundamentals that transfer into the working role
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
There is a large amount of different groups to get involved in whether thats sports teams, social events or even work events that are spread around the country.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend BT Group to a friend?
Yes
Why?
BT believes in their apprentices and gives them opportunities to develop by engaging them like regular members of the team. Apprentices aren't frowned upon and are given the freedom to showcase what they can do whilst also supporting them with any study activities they may have from the training providers.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BT Group?
Be yourself, be direct and be willing to go out of your comfort zone
