Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

Responsible for the staff and premises whilst I’m running shift. Ensuring every shift I work, that we are safe, legal and following all policies.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

It is/has been hard work and takes a lot of dedication. I enjoy seeing how far I have come and how much I have changed as a person through what I have learnt. There’s only one thing I don’t enjoy and that is how generalised the information is, it’s not based on each company.
Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

My behavioural skills are improving every day. My knowledge and physical skills developing very quickly. I thrive off of extending my knowledge and being thorough in my job role.
Structure and Support
How well organised/structured is your programme?

The amount of support I receive from my learning coach is astounding. She really is great. The organisation of the programme is also very good. The structure is confusing to get your head around at first but it doesn’t take long before you pick it up and it becomes second nature.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

We work in a busy shop, with a lot of customers. The support I receive is also very good and is provided every day. I’m assisted in how i can improve as a person and how I can develop my knowledge and experience within the work place. My manager has been fabulous.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

I have my learning coach to call on whenever I need her. She has been excellent in supporting me in every way. She’s been there when I needed support in one of my modules, she was there when I had personal issues and she is always thorough in what choices I can make and any information she has to give me.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

My qualification ensures that I think before I speak and I assist any person in any way. Customers and colleagues are most important and learning what I have since starting the apprenticeship has enabled me to be a better/more professional person within my place of work.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

We frequently are able to go out and do different things, we have been go carting and for meals out. We are able to add money to our social fund in store by taking part in incentives and winning funds. It’s a good way to encourage people to work in a different manner.

Would you recommend Iceland Frozen Foods to a friend?
Yes
Why?
Although fairly disorganised and a lot of pressure at times. Our store has a real family feel about it. We are all there to support each other every day. We all have an extremely close bond and that is rare to find. The team morale has massively improved since I started my apprenticeship.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Iceland Frozen Foods?
Always keep an open mind and don’t give in to the pressure. Talk to someone and don’t give up.
