Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
I am a supervisor in retailing, my over all role is too over see a team of individuals and ensuring they are doing what is needed off them, I.e. working stock, help If customers and other members of staff if needed. I work along side other management to ensure the shop runs as smoothly as it should on a daily basis.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I was very pleased when offered the apprenticeship programme to help me gain the steps I needed up the managerial ladder, during the course off the apprenticeship my first trainer had to leave there role, meaning we needed a new trainer this was very deflating as everything we had been taught wasn’t actually correct so I was unsure wether to carry on the apprenticeship or not. I’m so glad I did as my current trainer was just lovely and only wanted to watch us succeed.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
I have learnt how too support my team more and how to gain the confidence which enables me to create a strong working environment for my team to ensure the day runs as smooth as possible, I have also been given the crucial skills to help develop members off staff where needed.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
3/5
The programme was very confusing at the start as not much was explained and the old system we used wasn’t much help. Once we moved to my life and training was provided on how to use it effectively it was a great tool to use there was so many different ways you could use it and helped a lot throughout the course.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
I received minimal help from my employer I just kept them in the loop as to what I was learning and anything I need helped with, I didn’t really need my employer too much as my life time trainer was always my support network and I helped learn fundamental skills from them and the help off my life.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
My first trainer provider was not much help at all and in turn actually taught us the incorrect training. Once we where given another training provider they where excellent, hard at the start as they had to work out what point we where up to and what we still needed to learn, but that never stopped them they did there very best for me and only wanted to watch me succeed and through the help of her I passed my course and am now one step closer up the managerial ladder.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
It’s a sense of achievement when you finally get the qualification for the role your applying for because it shows your able and capable of fulfilling that role you want to do, that with your support network around you, you can easily achieve anything and that your now the best version of yourself.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
Not so much within retailing but you can push your team to participate more in incentives etc to get them working together as a team to generate sales and money for the social fund for the whole team to enjoy activities outside off work. I can now also apply to go further up the management ladder after securing my level 3 qualification.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Iceland Frozen Foods to a friend?
Yes
Why?
Iceland may be over looked by many other retailers but overall it’s a well diverse and friendly retailer who only want the best for staff and customers. They like to watch staff members succeed in reaching there goals like myself, and with the help off the apprenticeship programme it’s now a lot easier to do so.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Iceland Frozen Foods?
Never settle for less if you see yourself being at Iceland longer then expected like me, don’t just settle for a front line colleague make more of yourself and Climb the managerial ladder it’s easy when you know how and when you have an amazing support network around you, never be scared to aim for higher.
