Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

I am an apprentice within LBCM completing various placements across business areas. Therefore my day--to-day activity varies. I have some items of work that must be completed daily, such as regulatory reports however, the rest of my day is spent tackling longer tasks. I am often given flexibility to choose what I work on and how I approach the task.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

As an apprentice, I have felt valued from day one. This has allowed me to settle in easily and focus on my work. Additionally, the work I complete is important and regularly changes allowing me to experience a large variety of work. I am regularly asked for feedback as all involved want to make the apprenticeship scheme and enjoyable and worthwhile as possible.
Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

Since the start of my apprenticeship scheme, I truly believe I have had opportunities to improve all skills. Regular training sessions, apprenticeship work and on the job learning, has allowed me to improve in all areas and focus on the specifics such as public speaking where I believe I need to improve. My knowledge of the industry has also improved massively.

How well organised/structured is your programme?

As my apprenticeship was co-designed between Kaplan and Lloyds Banking Group, there are never any problems. I have 20% of my time (One day a week) to complete all apprenticeship work. This is easily manageable especially as all colleagues know this so avoid planning meetings on that day. Regular feedback calls also allow us to make any changes we would like to see.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

My biggest worry before starting my apprenticeship was juggling the degree and working full time. However, my line manager has always prioritised my apprenticeship which has allowed me to ensure I spend all the necessary time completing apprenticeship work and not worrying about actual work. I know exactly who to contact If ever need support.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

The training provider is very supportive and understanding. I have a list of people I can reach out to, and I know I will receive fast responses from. They also provide training on topics such as coping with stress which can be accessed at all times. I have felt supported throughout.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

Everything I have learnt so far has been relevant to my role. A lot of the information such as understanding regulation in the UK and ethics are regularly used in my job allowing me to create higher quality work. Additionally, everything else I have learnt has been interesting and will help me when I change roles in the future.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

Events outside of work are very common and increasingly so. Opportunities for volunteering are easy to find and encouraged my managers. The vast majority of events are work related which is great for networking.

Why?
I have only positive things to say about my time so far in Lloyds Banking Group. Everyone has been extremely supportive, the work in enjoyable, there are countless opportunities for self development and I have felt valued from day one. Any problems I might have will be solved quickly due to the desire for feedback and improvement by those involved.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Lloyds Banking Group?
Ensure you have a good understanding of the mission statement and values. They are great to include when giving examples in interviews.
Have a good understanding of financial news. For example, Lloyds recently did their first deal with a Fintech. Information like this could be used across a range of questions.
Be happy and eager. Having a smile will make a good impression when meeting someone new.
