Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
Through the course of my placement i would be assigned to different clients. Then my day to day tasks would vary dependant on the client and in what stage of the audit the team were in. This mean i didn't have set day to day tasks but on a daily basis i would email the team or manager and be given responsibilities.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
I enjoy my programme as it is very interesting and I liked working on big clients that you would see or even use their products as i found that quite surreal. Sometimes, it can be straining and hard work but it always easy to find a way to power through as like i said it is interesting.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
I have certainly learnt many skills which mostly involve putting my knowledge of audit in to practice and dealing with real world clients to produce real audit work. I have also worked on existing skills such as confidence as there has been times where I have had to contact or meet with the client on my own. My knowledge around audit has also massively increased.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
3/5
The programme is well organised but could be better. A few points were that no one made any contact with us once we got to Leeds so on our first day which we was meant to start we didn't know what we was doing or whether to go into the office or not so we were a little a confused.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
We get a lot of support from our employer. This includes accomodation provided for us, a very good laptop to use for our work and also a work phone for our placement. All of the managers and senior associates are also very supportive and will answer any question when you have them.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
We get lots of support from both the university and the ICAEW. This is in that the ICAEW provide us with textbooks, a workbook and a question bank. This means that we can learn the content which is provided by ICAEW as well as the things that our lecturers teach us.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
My qualification definitely helps me alot to perform better in my role as it gives me all of the knowledge that i need to complete my work. This includes all of the knowledge i'd need about audit to do the job after i finish my degree at a good level.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
Yes, we has professional networking events every month i believe in the office. This was time that we could accept on our calendars which would be help in one of the rooms in the office that you could go and network with everyone in the office. This included all of the different departments and not just the audit department.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend PwC to a friend?
Yes
Why?
Price Waterhouse Cooper are a very good company to work for. For anyone that is getting into audit they are also one of the best companies to work for and renowned for being in the "top 4". This means you get to work with bigger and better clients which is definitely more interesting.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to PwC?
The selection process for the flying start degree is very hard and not too many people make it through. So what i would suggest is to put your all into the team day as this is where you have your chance to make an impression and stand out from the rest of the applicants.
