Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
3/5
My day-to-day consisted of reaching out to various associates/senior associates on the audit team and receiving coaching on various tasks within the audit. I'd usually be coached through a task, undertake that task before it was then reviewed by the associate/senior associate.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
I really enjoy it, the accommodation is nice, the people at PWC are usually willing to help and the education at university is good. For me the only downside is missing 3 months a year at uni but this becomes worth it in the long run.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
Definitely, I'm comfortable using systems in PWC audit which I had no idea about before this placement, I've tied in audit tasks with what I'm learning back at uni and became confident talking to colleagues about work I've done.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
Very well-structured, my only concern was how close to the beginning of placement they told us about our living arrangements but other than that its been near 10/10.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
Of course it depends on who in PWC you ask for support from, but for the most part everyone is really nice and willing to help. The majority have been through similar experiences when they joined the firm so everyone is really understanding.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
3/5
ICAEW provide us with e-books and question banks which is a real help when revising for exams. This is all the support we get from them but I'd say its adequate.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
3/5
As an FS1 there isn't too many transferrable skills we learnt through exams that are relevant to the job, as we kind of learn on the job at PWC - but its certainly vital we are fluent in basic audit knowledge to understand tasks better.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
So many, theres social groups at the office that host socials, teams get together for socials occasionally and the wider BU unit also too. There's opportunity to play sports after work together and other activities too.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend PwC to a friend?
Yes
Why?
Very nice, sociable people, lots of support, a great environment
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to PwC?
Do it, its very competitive to get in but its worth it - the environment is really good here and I'd certainly recommend it.
