Overview of the Experience

Please give an overview of what your work experience involved:
4/5
I was given multiple talks throughout the day which gave me an oversight of the different roles within the law firm. We also completed some mock tasks throughout the day which were set by the solicitors. This was a good experience as we had the opportunity to network with different people and get to know people within the breakout rooms.
To what extent did you enjoy your work experience?
4/5
I found the work experience really beneficial to my learning and development and would definitely do it again! I was supported throughout the whole process and the platform we used was very convenient which helped you to understand how the day was planned out. I would definitely recommend it to everyone interested in law.
How well organised was your work experience?
5/5
In my opinion, it was really well organised from the very first communication I received from the team, and I clearly understood how the week was going to work. Each day had a clear structure with all of the deadlines and task that needed completing which was very beneficial to us all.
How much did your work experience help you in deciding on your future career path?
4/5
It has helped me immensely as it opened my mind up to all of the different career paths that you can take within the law sector. It also went through what Pinsent Masons offers and how you can get involved. The careers team will also continue to support you after the work experience which is a great benefit.
Were you paid or reimbursed for this experience?
3/5
I wasn't remunerated for taking part in the process. However, it wasn't about that, as the main aim was to gain some insight into the career and how I can improve areas within my personal or academic life. This experience will defiantly help if put in your CV or personal statement as well so it's worthwhile doing.

Skills Development

What training and skills development did you learn from your work experience?
3/5
My confidence has definitely grown massively since completing the work experience as I had to interact with many different students who were partaking in the course. I also had to present back to some of the solicitors and other members of my group which was slightly daunting to start with, but it definitely builds your confidence and ability to speak to others.

Company Culture

How much did you learn about the company culture and what it would be like to work there?
4/5
I learnt lots of valuable information about the company and its main aims. They take great pride in being an inclusive firm with many diverse employees helping to push each other to do better. They are also very relaxed with dress codes and the way in which you work. This helps every employee to work better and more effectively.
Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees?
3/5
There were plenty of opportunities to interact with the professionals and ask them lots of questions throughout the process which helped my understanding. However, we also met lots of students which helped make the process easier as everyone had different opinions and ideas. This meant the group tasks ran smoothly.

Recommendations and Advice

Would you recommend Pinsent Masons LLP to a friend?
Yes
Why?
It is a very inclusive firm who really care about the people who work for them. They create an inclusive atmosphere and put the employee first to make sure they can work as effectively as possible. However, they also do lots of extra activities to help employees from other offices to get together which sounds fun!
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Pinsent Masons LLP?
The best advice I can give is to be authentic throughout the whole process from the application to the interview. The academic side matters as grades are important but they are also interested in how you fit into the team and what extracurricular activities you have done that will give you the edge in comparison to someone else.
