Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
Recruitment for all of our undergraduate programmes; ranging from degree apprenticeships to 3 day internships. This would include helping them through the different stages of the recruitment process, answering queries, sorting out their accomodation and also picking up last minute issues that may arise and working on the spot.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I have loved my work placement from start to finish. I have been very fortunate to be put into such an inclusive and supportive team who were there to help me through each step of my placement, showing me what a great work culture is.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
This placement year has really helped me develop more confidence in everything I do, whether that be presenting to students or reaching out to senior partners within the firm. The role has also really developed my excel skills, using lots of different platforms and softwares constantly for different jobs.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
The programme structure was set up very well to help me through my year, as with any job our role had busy seasons but the team factored this in really well to our workload and was constantly checking in to assess our capacity. We also have monthly career coach meetings.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
When joining PwC all employees are given a career coach and buddy to act as go to contacts throughout the year, both formally and informally for issues which is super helpful. The firm is also really supportive of flexible working hours, accommodating any appointments or needs you may have most times.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
As it was a year's placement, I didn't hear too much from my University whilst on placement apart from one check in point mid way through my placement. It would have been better to hear more from my University but as I had no concerns it wasn't troubling either.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
The two years I did before my placement at University did set me up well to begin this placement as it taught me the fundamentals of HR, however I am not studying towards a qualification whilst at PwC.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
PwC are very keen to host lots of other events outside of work; there are always sports teams within the offices e.g. Netball. We also do lots of drinks and get together nights within our own teams, normally trying to get people between offices together. All employees also get 5 days a year to take for volunteering.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend PwC to a friend?
Yes
Why?
PwC is a firm I'd advise anyone to work for, not only for the great career opportunities and clients to work with but for the great benefits you receive as an employee. From flexile working, to free eye tests, great maternity, socials, taste card - so much to enjoy!
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to PwC?
The main thing PwC look for in hiring candidates is their motivation for the role, so really make sure before applying you are set on that job and also to work for PwC. The more research the better!
