Overview of the Experience

Please give an overview of what your work experience involved:
4/5
The work experience opportunity included many things to accompany the experience. There was a Welcome session to introduce us to the programme as well as meetings with Trainee Solicitors to ask any questions and talk about how the programme was going. There were also a series of informative presentations and group activities as well as individual tasks.
To what extent did you enjoy your work experience?
4/5
I participated in the virtual work experience and extremely enjoyed it. It was a good introduction to law and what it entails. The programme was interactive and opened opportunities to speak to others and work within group settings. The programme was flexible with individual tasks too. I enjoyed this work experience because I feel I have learnt a lot more and have more knowledge for the profession
How well organised was your work experience?
4/5
The work experience programme was very well organised. The usage of the Forage application allowed for a streamlined programme and the programme organisers always ensured that the sessions started on time. The structure of the programme was excellent as it allowed for me to slowly become more aware of things that occur in the legal sector. The support from the organisers was excellent and they were always on hand to answer questions.
How much did your work experience help you in deciding on your future career path?
1/5
The work experience programme was a great insight into what the legal profession is like. The firm made sure to offer various insights of what law entails. This opportunity helped me to decide more on my path towards law and this was helped by listening to trainee solicitors and their stories as well as the different departments within the firm.
Were you paid or reimbursed for this experience?
1/5
The work experience programme that I completed was virtual and therefore, there were no costs that had to be reimbursed. However, by doing the virtual experience, I was able to work on things from my own home and had that comfort. Whilst I did not partake, the firm offered an insight day at one of their firm locations which would have helped many.

Skills Development

What training and skills development did you learn from your work experience?
4/5
The programme allowed for me to immerse myself more into the legal profession and improve on organisational skill. The programme offered advice on what to do within my future in law. Furthermore, by doing tasks, I strengthened my skills of teamwork but also by working individually. The experience helped me improve my analytical skills and helped me learn more about what skills are needed to thrive in the legal profession

Company Culture

How much did you learn about the company culture and what it would be like to work there?
4/5
I learnt a lot about what working at Pinsent Mason entails and how they treat their employees. Pinsent Masons seems like a very accepting firm who always look out for their employees. Their ethos and values align with my own and in the future, I would be able to see myself working there. The support they offer to employees within Responsible Business is amazing to see.
Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees?
4/5
There were numerous times to network and meet others on the programme. During lunch, the work experience team allowed for their to be a networking session in which we could talk to others about what they wanted to do and their future plans etc. Moreover, we were also able to speak to trainee solicitors who could give advice
