Overview of the Experience

Please give an overview of what your work experience involved:
4/5
My work experience included a range of different activities. We had several talks about the different aspects of Law, such as Commercial Law, Employment Law and Street Law. They were extremely vibrant and interactive sessions, and opened my mind to becoming a solicitor. As well as this, there were several Case studies, Leases and Causes we had to alter/make/improve. This task was quite insightful and I enjoyed the work given to me.
To what extent did you enjoy your work experience?
5/5
I thoroughly enjoyed my experience. I worked with other students and attended several networking lunches. During the Insight Day, I met people who shared similar interests with me, and became friends as a result. The interactive sessions were quite intriguing, and everyone contributed something leading to a social and friendly atmosphere.
How well organised was your work experience?
5/5
The work experience was quite well organises. Meetings were started on time. They allocated time at the end for any questions or queries. The site we used for the meetings were professional and organised, everything was labelled clearly and distinct, and it was easy to navigate your way around the site.
How much did your work experience help you in deciding on your future career path?
5/5
This work experience helped me greatly to decipher what exactly I wanted to do in the future. Originally, I was debating whether I should become a Barrister or a Solicitor. Luckily, this work experience swayed me more towards the Solicitor side as I did really enjoy this training so much.
Were you paid or reimbursed for this experience?
1/5
I was not paid for this experience, however I think if I was paid, I would then force myself to enjoy the experience rather than let the enjoyment come naturally. Not being paid meant I myself had to wake up early in order to get organised and logged in on time to finish clauses or listen to talks.

Skills Development

What training and skills development did you learn from your work experience?
5/5
From my experience, I learned several skills. Attention to detail was one of the more crucial skills that I learned. Some of the tasks that were set required us to pinpoint mistakes, identify certain elements, and give rise to suspicion on sections that needed more clarity or negotiation. This skill will prove to me crucial in the future.

Company Culture

How much did you learn about the company culture and what it would be like to work there?
4/5
I learned a multitude about the company itself. They are a purpose led firm, which also included several aspects of diversity and inclusivity. Their employers are kind and social able, ready to answer questions at any time and give their time of the day towards us. The company itself was beautiful and vibrant
Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees?
5/5
There were plenty opportunities to network and meet other employees. We had three networking lunches, two virtual ones and one in person one. We got supervisors who answered every question we had in mind. There were always Trainee Solicitors who provided us with their emails and encouraged us to contact them if we had any queries about the firm or Law itself.

Recommendations and Advice

Would you recommend Pinsent Masons LLP to a friend?
Yes
Why?
I would definitely recommend this work experience to a friend. The friendly ambient and the people made the experience quite memorable. It was difficult to part from the firm, having met so many wonderful people who all appear very ambitious and dedicated to their work. It was amazing to see how a wide diversity of people all behaved as a family.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Pinsent Masons LLP?
I would advise them to come with an open mind and to interact at every given opportunity. They are there to help, advise and display what it means to be a determined solicitor. Communication is key is achieving goals, so be prepared to work in a team, speak up and use your voice.
