Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
My daily tasks involved a lot of inputting data into pre-set excel templates where I had to use judgment and my knowledge of accounting standard to judge whether they were accounted for correctly and test them accordingly.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
3/5
The placement, relative to the university aspect, was quite enjoyable it destroyed any pre-existing fears I had in getting an office job.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
It really deepened my accounting knowledge as everything was put in context. I developed how to speak to clients effectively especially when they can be difficult, but still getting the point across politely.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
2/5
I liked aspects of the structure where we had multiple contacts for various issues with the career coach for bigger stuff and a buddy and Flying Start champion for more trivial issues. However, especially being first year, it was a lot easier to learn being in person, but we could only stay in Bristol for 2 months. I had to book a hotel at the start of placement as my manager requested me to come in as the job was to complex to explain virtually. Also, even at the end of placement, I believe it would have easier if I could stay there for the whole duration as I could have learned more.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
I received as lot of help from career coach, managers, flying start ambassadors and answered any questions I had.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
3/5
I had plenty of help from University
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
I definitely believe that the placement has helped me understand all aspects of accounting more as everything was put into a real context and I was able to acknowledge the human aspects to it.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
3/5
There were drinks organised occasionally as well as the away day. No sports team to the best of my knowledge that were organised.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend PwC to a friend?
Yes
Why?
Extremely friendly environment and everyone was welcoming.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to PwC?
Always be hard working. Managers will generally give freedom as to what hours to work and whether you need to be in the office but you can not exploit this as you still have to complete the work given to you. Also, if you are stuck ask for help, there is no point wasting time doing nothing.
