Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
I am working on the audits of many different companies in the financial sector. On a day to day basis I liaise with clients about any evidence that may be needed for the audit. I do testing of the clients financial information to help with a team to come to a conclusion whether the financial statements give a true and fair view.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
I love the company culture and there are many social elements to the work that we do which makes you feel part of a team. The work can be challenging at times but it gives you a chance to push yourself and try new things. I have been able to make good friends which makes me want to come into the office.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
I have developed and learnt much more about using excel, my skills have gotten much better in this respect as I did not know much about excel before. I have also developed new skills in many of PwC's own systems and adapted to their way of working. I have also developed my writing and communication skills having to speak with clients and other members of my team on a daily basis.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
It is very well organised, from joining and having my induction week I felt very prepared to start my job and knew who to go with. We got lots of training in terms of the job as well as with kaplan training to become an accountant. We got an opportunity to study alongside our work and get time off when needed to revise for exams.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
I have different managers at different times depending on the job I am working on, however your career coach sticks with you meaning that you always have someone you know to go to. All of the managers have been able to help and support with any questions that may arise. We also have a buddy who is only a year or two older to help with any other questions we may have.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
3/5
the tutors were very good and allowed us to email them/speak to them about our individual training and questions which was very helpful. due to covid we had to do some training online which made it trickier to speak to the tutors at kaplan, however they had many systems in place if you are struggling and need help.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
I feel that it supports you in your everyday role. everything that you learn you see come into place when you are doing different pieces of work which is very interesting. I feel I know so much more about the job and the industry than when I started as it is so hard to know what it is like until you have practiced it in real life as well as studied.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
Yes, there are lots if things to do outside of work. there are many different clubs supporting everyone with individual things we are passionate about. there are also lots of sports teams and exercise teams on offer to join in with. there are also individual team socials scattered throughout the year as well as whole socials where everyone from the office is invited. we can also volunteer a day a year to help the community with something we are passionate about.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend PwC to a friend?
Yes
Why?
I would recommend it as there is so much to offer here. It isn't just a job there is a community which can involve you in other things you are interested in. The work is also varied and you get to work with lots of different people keeping it interesting.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to PwC?
I would say to not panic with the onboarding process and for the first few days as it all becomes clear so there is no need to worry, its easy to before you've been into the office but once you are there they explain everything. I would also say that in the interview process to do your research and be yourself.
